I guess this is a good lesson in why you shouldn't post after having a fight with your signifigant other... But in my defense, the PH is pretty specific on this point... of course, this info is in the chunk of the book most people only read once- if they read it at all. I know that for the longest most of my own group (about 15 people in all) got this leveling up sequence wrong.  Resulting in all kinds of mishaps like retroactive skill points from INT gain; retroactive HP from CON; entering PrCs too early. This caused problems with the players that did follow the proper steps...  WotC really should have included this info in the Character Classes chapter.
