Well I just got back the round of corrections and we have to re-layout the book, so you can expect to see this project very soon, most likely by the end of the month. But here is a preview of what you can expect to see in full detail in Prestige Class Creation Cookbook. PS: These are the overviews of the classes, NOT the detailed breakdown which can be found in the Prestige Class Creation Cookbook. Comparing the Standard Prestige Classes Below are a few examples to provide an idea of relative power levels via point buy. The highly specific class features of the Thaumaturgist, Horizon Walker, and Red Wizard have been omitted. Arcane Archer Total Cost: 55.5. One of the weakest classes available, if you want to be an archer you’re better off going straight ranger. Arcane Trickster Total Cost: 78 or 97. Either decent or good, depending on how you get into it. Assassin Total Cost: 72. Not all that impressive, the spell list is the real savior of the assassin. Blackguard Total Cost: 87 maximum. Powerful fighting class that mixes resilience with damage output, can be reduced in cost with restrictions. Duelist Total Cost: 66 points. Can’t really cause damage but winds up with a giant AC. Not everyone’s cup o tea but good at what it does. Dragon Disciple Total Cost: 101 or 99 for characters with a 20 speed. The giant strength boost is the chief offender, which actually more than offsets the mere ¾ bab, while providing extra damage. Very powerful for offensive builds. Mystic Theurge Total Cost: 74. The lost spell levels hurt, a lot. This class looks good on paper but winds up much weaker than you’d think. Actually costed less than a wizard, and much less than a cleric. And a few more: Dwarven Defender: 76, Eldritch Knight: 75 And a 5 level one: Archmage Total Cost: 51 For Reference: First 10 levels of Cleric Total Cost: 117. Clerics are crazy. Maybe not druid crazy, but still way out there on the power scale.
