A while back I recall someone asking whether there were any prc's for the npc classes (commoner, etc.) Well, here's the one from my campaign world... the Peshan master trader. Now, a pc could take levels in it, but I think of it as much more likely to be an expert type prestige class. Feedback, as always, is appreciate. PESHAN MASTER TRADER Peshan traders are well-known for their ability to get any product, anywhere- for a price. Exotic spices, slaves, drugs, arms and armor, magic items- a Peshan master trader can get any of these, given enough time and money. Hit Die: d6 Prerequisites: Profession (merchant) (8 ranks). Leadership. Must have a minimum personal wealth of 10,000 gp in cash, valuable merchandise (not personal effects), and land. Must pay a 2500 gp entrance fee to the Peshan trader’s guild and a monthly fee of 300 gp to remain in good standing. Class Skills: Alchemy (int), Appraise (int), Bluff (cha), Craft (int), Diplomacy (cha), Disguise (cha), Forgery (int), Gather Information (cha), Innuendo (wis), Knowledge (local) (int), Pick Pocket (dex), Profession (wis), Search (int), Sense Motive (wis), Speak Language (int), Spot (wis), Use Magic Device (cha). Skill points per level: 6 + int bonus. Base Attack: Medium (as rogue) Good Saves: Will Poor Saves: Fort and Ref Level Special Abilities 1 Connections, income 2 Gossip, Silken Tongue 3 Discerning Eye 4 Special Connection 5 Local Courier Network 6 Special Connection 7 Regional Courier Network 8 Of Course I Can! CLASS FEATURES Weapon and Armor Proficiency: Peshan master traders are skilled only in the use of simple weapons. Connections (Ex): The trader can find any normal, commonplace item within a community’s gp limit for 75% of the normal price. Income (Ex): A trader’s various business investments generate a monthly income of 2d6 x class level x 10gp with no effort to speak of on the master trader’s part (although under exceptional circumstances this income may be disrupted, as when the trader’s investments come under economic attack by another trader). Gossip (Ex): The Peshan master trader hears all the gossip and gets a +4 competence bonus on gather information checks. The master trader never needs to spend any money on a gather information check. Silken Tongue (Ex): The master trader gets a +2 competence bonus on all charisma-based checks made on living creatures. This bonus increases to +6 when bargaining over prices. Discerning Eye (Su): By handling an item for one minute the master trader can make a special Appraise check, DC15, to determine whether it is magical or psionic; DC20 will reveal whether it is cursed or intelligent; and DC30 will identify a magic or psionic item (as the spell, except that it takes only one minute and requires no material component). Special Connection (Ex): The trader may choose one type of special connection, through whom the trader can receive specialized, unusual, illegal, or otherwise hard-to-obtain goods. This connection may be a member of a local thieves’ guild, an orcish slaver, a Strogassian blockade runner, etc. The goods they provide are at 75% of the standard price for the Peshan master trader. These pigeons are bright enough to seek out their designated target and always deliver their messages within one day (unless the target is underground or not in the radius). Regional Courier Network (Ex): The range of the trader’s network is now 1000 miles, and it takes only one day per hundred miles of distance to deliver a message to anyone. Of Course I Can! (Ex): Given 1d12 days, the trader can track down any non-unique item for sale, though sometimes the price may be inflated. This requires a master trader level check, DC 20 plus or minus up to 6 (depending on circumstances, rareness of the item, etc.) Hope you enjoy it!
