Awww... they're tiny! So cute. For some reason I had thought they were bigger.

Anyway, now I have a contender for a replacement for the Cthulhu-Warlocks' familiar, at least.

This has always been one of my favorite monsters. Wish this version was tougher. The 1e intellect devourer was one of the most terrifying creatures to face because it was so damn hard to hurt.

I think they were bigger in one edition - they shrunk themselves to fit into a human cranium.

You know, the thing that make me sad about this is that it seems to write the ustilagor out of the intellect devourer reproductive cycle. Other than that (and their lesser toughness than previously), I like the basic take.

What exactly is the Intellect Devourer if not a B-movie monster? If you can accept Mind Flayers making them, is it really a stretch to have them spout B-movie dialogue along the way?
