Pricing on belt of Enlarge Person

First Post
There was a thread on this awhile ago... but I'm pretty sure it was pre-server crash.

Anyway, how much would you charge for a belt (or any appropriate item slot) of enlarge person? Would you allow such an item to work all the time? or limit it to x charges per day?

The fighter in the party asked my wizard to make her one, and the prices I keep coming up with seem far too low for such an item.

Let's see, it normally it would be 2000GP, but it has a duration in terms of minutes so 4,000GP.
I'd also throw in a factor for the fact it has a casting time of 1 round. So say 6,000 GP.
That's obviously still too low.

I'd go with an item which one can cast enlarge person 5 times a day, as a full-round action, and has a duration of 1 minute at 2,000 gold and be happy with it. As a continous item? I guess I'd call it 20,000GP or so. I'd probably throw in a disadvantage like it taking 1 hour from putting it on and taking it off for the effect to come and go and drop the price to 15,000. (A dispel would drop it sooner clearly). But I like items with disadvantages... It adds a special something. Especially if it wasn't part of the plan by the person creating it.... Remind your players that the item creation rules are just guidelines.

Not much. You can permanency EP for 500 XP, with the downer there being that it can be dispelled. But belts can be broken, and stolen so hey.....

I'd say no more than 15,000 GP, BUT it takes 1 Hour to take effect and his gear doesn't get bigger, and he must now eat for a large creature.

Secrets of Xen'drik has a warforged component, the Behemoth Belt, that takes up the belt slot. It causes the wearer to grow one size category, as per Enlarge Person, except it works on living constructs. It can be used once per day, lasts five minutes, and costs 4k.

Since this allows a warforged to benefit from Enlarge Person, that might be a factor of the price, but I don't imagine a big one. I'd say this is a good starting spot for Belts of Enlarge which grant more uses/longer duration.

So, how does 10,000 gp- affects fighter and equipment, useable 3x per day, standard action to activate, and lasts 5 minutes a go sound?

Edit: Also, should this be a belt slot item? Belts deal with physical improvement... which this definetly is, but would a better placement be the Cloak slot which deals with "Transformation, protection"

Personally, I'd do 12,000g and keep the rest of your description. 3/day, standard action, and lasts 5 minutes per use is a very good limit on an item while still making it very useful. (In fact, I really like this item!) I guess it would also then be a caster level 5 item (if that ever came up), since enlarge person is a min/level.

I like it being a belt: you're right in that it makes sense, and from a careful DM perspective, it also tacitly limits the number of other "power" items the fighter can wear. If the PCs decide to make it a cloak, I'd use the 1.5x cost rule for mis-slotted items.
