Primal Order (or other PC as gods bits...)

So does anyone know if there will ever be an update to the Primal Order system? I thought the owner bought it back some time ago. This is one of the few areas where we don't have a ton of competing sourcebooks.

On the other hand, I've seen mention of the Immortals Handbook, one of the Classic Play series by Mongoose where characters walk the path to immortality.

Any other books on the subject?

I don't know if Primal Order will ever be updated, but I do recommend the book to many roleplayers. Fantastic book for setting up the notions of godhood, of limiting players abilities to ever truly strike down the gods, and yet also allows that very minor chance of a mortal rising to godhood, at which point (as a god) the ex-PC could take on the gods.

Great read!

Long live Joey, God of Basketweaving!

Peter Atkison bought the rights back to The Primal Order (PO) shortly after leaving WotC. I remember an interview or thread here way back when talking about this. As I recall, it was "his baby" (he's the credited author), and he wanted the rights back for "sentimental reasons." He also indicated he would NOT be expanding/republishing any time soon, if at all.

A pity. The book is exceptional, and I never tire of referring to it. Joey the God of Basketweaving, indeed! The supplements varied in value, but added to the overall affect. The whole series was to be the start of WotC's CAP System, with aspired titles such as The Military Order, The Economic Order, The Governmental Order, and The Underworld Order. I guess the SRD and OGL have allowed the various publishers to run with some of these notions.

I'm not sure if anyone has ever done a home brew update. The closest thing going is Upper_Krust's ever-pending Immortals Handbook (IH), in which he will include conversions between PO and his (IH) system.

I found many ideas from "Chessboards", a planar book supplement to the Primal Order, seem very similiar to "Portals and Planes" and the "Manual of hte Planes".

You can certainly use it as is...would have been nice to get updates more specifically tied to the originals though.
