Prison of Manzessine

I think if we decide to run Sully will still want to see what the effect is on the blood potion. We can return and pick it up later, after the proper exposure, and then take it to Filani or someone to tell us what, if any, new magical properties it has picked up.

We were already thinking, in character, that we could be in over our heads. Of course, we could just lay low and see what there is to see in the area, especially now that we will have Mass Darkvision and Seeming available on a regular basis.

Any suggestions from others? Our only comment from a non-participant has been Black Moria.

I agree that your party is probably in over their heads.

I would be inclined to relocate to a safe base of operation. Being in a drow city, hiding in a ruined building doesn't qualify, IMO. You need a more secure location, defensible with escape routes and the ability to remain undetected.

Then I would mount operations of limited scope to achieve whatever mission you are trying to achieve.

Stealth is paramount. Even with Seeming and Mass Darkvision, you are only a dispel magic or two away from disaster, should the enemy use dispel magic against you. You need to pick the ground and terms upon which you fight, rather than having said dictated to you by the enemy. Therefore, stealth and remaining undetected become critical. In a drow city, a ill picked fight will bring hordes of enemies down upon your heads.

Examine your mission. Can it be achieved another way? This drow city isn't the only place that faerezz is found, and while it is certain that there will be drow and others around such deposits, your current deposit is too risky due to the power struggle and other events that are rapidly unfolding in your area.

as much as i'd like to just slug it out with either the Giant's Army (favored enemy Giant) or the drow undead gang.

the cleric in the party had to be begged to go on this mission. repeatedly, IC. with the player leaving it just makes sense his character would go back to Mother Church.

i even roleplayed his character for him last session as he couldn't make it... and added a possible out for him with his church in another 3 days time.

my character, of course, wants to kill him. but that is another story. ;)

of the remaining PCs and the NPC. we may have a hard time leaving.

we also know there is a dracolisk and a ticked off mind flayer near the city wanting revenge.

and odds are as we have guessed multiple times... some BBEG named Hedrack. ;) ... my character actually mindlinked with him once using a Bone Ring... :uhoh: i told him i had the ONe Ring.

Update: We played a week ago Sunday and it looks like more trouble is good trouble in the town of Merrymadeira.

Planning went well. And the discovery of the Dwarf. Some good plans were put forth and we decided to scout the city a bit in disguise. Goblinoid disguise using Seeming and Darkvision. This worked well as we were given an in to "relieve" the local watchpost of guards. One of us tagged back to watch out for the real relief while most of us explore the watchtower/ruined noble estate. It was mostly abandoned, but we found an interesting clue upstairs when the 2nd crew came along.

Can't really recall why they attacked us outright, but the fight was intense. And of course one got away. Which lead to fight number two. At the gates of the compound. Which almost lead to fight number three. So we retreated. Still seeming as goblinoid, but probably suspected to be drow resistance behind enemy lines.

Funny thing happened in the bottom of the secret hole tho. No Cleric. Message from an irate mindflayer claiming to have one our party, but no cleric. We suspect he's taken a trip to the local illithid penal colony outside the drow city. A few tunnel trips away.

What to do. What to do.
We decide on saving ourselves and our wonderful new dwarf friend. [me] Of course, this isn't as easy as it should be, but why do what's easy?

Back in town we start shopping and selling. (per usual)
Decisions need to be made. Do we save the Cleric? Do we attempt to find (maybe destroy) the Black Grail? Do we help out in the Zhent war effort? Do we hunt down another FazeRuss vein and evil dragon? Or do we bug out for greener pasteurs? Say an abyssal layer?

Plenty to do, but not time enough to do it.

our sorceror Charmed the pants off the dwarf.

a partially burned scroll/parchment with a plea to Lolth from one of her priestesses.

the relief came with the group we releaved. so they knew we weren't real.

the cleric and the body of a young woman we found were both gone. the mindflayer contacted those who had harmed him in the earlier fight. (the 2 rogues).

plus we were chased out of town by a pack of displacer beasts.

we have a lot of things to discuss. much more roleplay and decision making than combat oriented stuff. although, my character and the others know where we can find another dragon to kill.

now the real debate comes.

do we rescue the cleric from Prison of Manzessine or do we assume he is dead and go on with our lives.
