What old basic D&D, 1st edition or 2nd edition AD&D modules do you think have really good plots, maps, NPC's, or encounters to scavenge for a 3rd edition/D20 D&D game?

Maybe list your favorite 2 or 3 books and what is worth scavenging from it.

Basic D&D offered an NPC supplement called the Shady Dragon Inn. Lots of NPCs, illustrations, and stat blocks. The NPCs were grouped by class and race, with a variety of alignments. A GM could literally populate his setting with NPCs from that single book.

I used to have a copy of the Shady Dragon Inn. I cant even count the number of barroom brawls that took place on that floorplan/battlemat.
Sadly, that module disappeared many many years ago,

I find myself still using a lot of the old blue books from 2nd ed like the Creative Campainging, Necromancer Book (use the Island setting in 3rd ed with GR's Secret College. Lots of opportunities.) An older encounter book called Cities I think by Chaosium. Some stuff called Central Casting: Heroes of Legend, for ideas, and all sorts of other oldies.

The old Lankhmar: City of Adventure book was quite useful in running city adventures. It had various maps in the back that you could use as generic city blocks, which came in handy every time the party ended up running through/fighting in city streets.
