I'd like to point out, that the only thing I sacrifice in character creation for this, is a psionic attack/defense mode, and combat-oriented feats. I take 3 useful feats, that just so happen to allow me the ability to use Mind Blast. I also choose Mind blast instead of another Attack of Defense Mode. I don't feel that this makes the character concept entirely dependant on my ability to Mind Blast. It's just a neat ability I have that is available to me if and when I have to deal with something stronger than myself. My Greatsword, with it's decent damage, makes me still viable in melee, which will go up normally as I level up. My Bow is relatively accurate, and allows me to handle most fights as the company archer instead of the melee man. I understand that I don't want to use mind blast, but to me it seems like a great shot to try when my lucks running out. The rest and recovery for 66 days to disable the trolls that are about to wipe out my group is much better than death, and it's the only time I would use it. I also don't like to play perfectly crunched characters, so this idea seems quite fun given my great ability score rolls. Normally I'm the guy with 5/10/11/11/16/13 as my ability score rolls. I still play quite well because of my personal ability to get out of trouble in game (and I'm a lucky bastard).
