Note that because it deals with character advancement, this will be an OGL-only product, and will mostly deal with abilities already extant in the SRD. What this means is that you will not see a lot of "new material" in terms of "new abilities" for your character. What it *will* do is explain how to "build" a character. In other words, you will see Sneak Attacks and Turning of Undead and a discussion on how to "scale" the cost in terms of directly "spending XP on abilities" rather than waiting to level and picking a class with a pre-determined set of abilities. All of the mathematical formulae underlying this project is done, it's now a matter of turning the formulae into more or less comprehensible English. This system was designed to better mimic the real world where you might have an ancient master craftsman with the equivalent of 20 Ranks in Craft but just a few hit points (not currently achievable, since he'd need 17 levels of Expert). So you won't want to buy this for the "kewl new abilities" but rather for the underlying system itself (instead of buying things in "level increments," you can "buy" abilities one at a time in smaller packages - as small as one skill rank or skill slot). This means that your character can improve and gain new abilities or skills after EVERY gaming session - though the gains will not be as dramatic as the gains made when levelling. This also means that the system is not for everybody... if you like the current class-and-level system, you won't have much need for this. This one should easily be out by the end of the year - and hopefully sooner.
This is as good a place as any, I suppose... here's an update from S.T. Cooley Publishing (http://www.cooleys.org/publishing/ )... one of the little PDF guys... CURRENTLY AVAILABLE PRODUCTS: The Enchiridion of Mystic Music is about 98% done with its 3.5e overhaul. It has been beefed up to 144 pages (that's a near-doubling in size since the last revision at 74 pages), and includes new, never-before-seen-in-any-product original artwork. Hopefully this will be done by the end of the week or so. :) The Enchiridion of Treasures and Objects d'Art is already 3.5e compliant - on the (lucky?) coincidence that none of the changes made in 3.5e have bearing on things in the book, though a minor clean-up and expansion will likely be made at some point. The Enchiridion of Elided Enduements of the Expanse was released as dual 3e and 3.5e compliant. Obviously, updating this one is down on the list a little ways. ;) UPCOMING PRODUCTS: Buy the Numbers (listed on my products page as "Direct EXPenditure") is a point-buy alternative to the class-and-level system currently used in the SRD's system. Note that because it deals with character advancement, this will be an OGL-only product, and will mostly deal with abilities already extant in the SRD.
