Publishers, giving away swag at Gen Con? Announce it here!

This thread is dedicated to my roommates at Gen Con this year. You know who you are. ;)

Publishers, are you giving away free copies of a new book to promote it? New t-shirts to show your companies logo around? Free buttons? If you have swag for the con (or even specials on prices), go ahead and post it here!

Gen Con, for those who don't know, is a great place to pick up swag. However, it's easy to overlook a lot of the great things you can find there (such as how the guys at Hades Pro, who run an anime room, give away thousands of dollars in free products during the Con). Hopefully, this thread will help to share the wealth. :)

What a sadly empty thread! :(
As I mentioned last year I thought the swag last year was thin.
Others disagreed (as per the thread) and many expressed hope that this
year the swag would be better (in amount and quality.)

I can understand that publishers don't want to announce it per se : "Hey,
we're giving away free copies of our 'Fiends of the Unter-reich Player's handbook!'"
because they'll miss out on suckers...I mean, other customers who'll buy their
books full price. ;) But, man, was I sore that I missed out on T-shirts, dice, etc.

Hell, I'd be willing to throw money down on other stuff at a publisher's post for
swag :- guar-an-teed!

We aren't giving anything away, but we will be blowing out some of our older titles for $5 and $10. Mostly 3.0 books. That's not free but it is cheap.

*grin* After last year, and watching how much free swag you walked away with from the con, you are officially known as the SwagMaster

Any chance that you'll have some copies of the big copy of Book of Fiends? As much as I tried to get a copy, Amazon apparently sold out and I gave up after waiting on it for 6 months from them.

Book of Fiends is out of print, which is why Amazon can't get it. We have a few copies left here that we use for mail orders and convention sales. As long as I remember to throw a few copies in my suitcase, we ought to have it at GenCon.

Bastion Press will be having great prices on many of their older 3.0 books. It will also be your opportunity to buy one the few remaining copies of Arms & Armor v3.5 and Torn Asunder: Critical Hits, both of which will be out of print soon. :)

well this company is just busting into the d20 market with their next release, but if you show up @ gencon you could get a free mini RPG Squirl Attack or win a authentic roman die for the 3rd century. See below for more info:

Come Visit HinterWelt at GenCon

HinterWelt Enterprises

August 2005

HinterWelt Enterprises will be attending Gen Con 2005 at the Game Publishers Association's block (booth# 1939). We would love to talk with gamers about our Iridium System, upcoming Iridium Lite and our plans for future settings and games. We also will have our latest releases (Turris Lemurum, Austrian Holiday and Circuses & Carnivals) as well as our classics (Tales of Gaea, Shades of Earth, Nebuleon and Roma Imperious). All for sale in one convenient spot! But wait, there's more!

We also will be giving away copies of Squirrel Attack! free with any purchase. Squirrel Attack! uses our Iridium Lite system to portray the desperate situation of the Squirrel Kin kingdom of Nuttopia. A band of squirrels (not an anthropoid but true squirrels) must raid Mr. Jones' Nut Farm and return with enough nuts to save Nuttopia. This is a self contained booklet with the complete Iridium Lite system in it as well as setting material on creatures like the Squirrelferatu, Squirrelcanthrope, the Marxist Red Squirrels and much much more!

But wait! You could win an authentic third century Roman gaming die! That's right, HinterWelt Enterprises will be giving away one of these dice each day. Found in a dig in Spain, these dice will make great bragging swag at the game table, highly collectable and you can still roll them. Make sure to stop by the booth and ask us more about his great give-away.

Finally, we will be running four games over the convention days. Turris Lemurum, a tale of Roman intrigue in North Africa. Rehendi Prison, the delivery of a prisoner to an orbital prison never went so wrong. Vengeance of the Son, the father has been murdered in his own town of Calleva Atrebatum and only the sons can avenge him. Austrian Holiday, the Nazi's have looked to the supernatural in hopes of making super soldiers but its not nice to fool with mother nature. This is a great way to get a quick introduction to the Iridium System and HinterWelt's products.

Hope to see you at Gen Con!

Mike got it right. Stop by the booth and you can win a third century Roman gaming die and get a free Squirrel Attack! with your purchase. That's right bub, you are playing squirrels, not furries, just plain super intelligent (and sometimes undead) squirrels.

Booth 1939! See you there.

Bill
