Hi, I was wondering if anyone has some hard and fast rules for purchasing custom made items. With the offical rules in Magic item Compendium, which allows you to add different/multiple bonuses to 1 magic item so you can free body slots, the players are looking to buy magic items that have multiple bonuses Initially the thought was that you could pay for it, but had to wait for it to be crafted, ie 18 days for a 18000gp item. Then a suggestion came up the if its under the gp limit of the city/town etc then it should be available. Being the DM im looking for something inbetween, time restraints are the main reason why 18 days isnt viable, the players are fairly cool with it, but it can become frustrating if you have all this gold to spend but can't spend the time getting stuff made, because of time restraits. I see this items as luxuries and not neccessities and if getting them made isnt an option then maybe certain skills, % rolls could help. I understand that there are rules in the DMG that allow character to spend time Gathering Info to find a specific items and maybe if lucky they can find the item they seek. I could stretch time to allow for craft time, but i feel this part of the adventure requires a bit of urgency and will add to the overall feel of the adventure. Players have had period in the past to craft items themselves and wait for standard magical items to be delivered from larger cities. But sometimes the timing isnt great for everyone. Thoughts, ideas? Cheers Z
