Puttin' together a monster book!!

the Jester

Legend
Hey guys, I'm happy to announce that a couple of my friends and I are in the process of putting together a book o' monsters.

More details will come as time goes on; we don't even know what we're calling it yet for sure, but it's gonna be cool. We've got tons of cool ideas- a few of the monsters in it may be ones that I have already posted here on the homebrews forum at one point or another, but for the most part they'll all be new and spiffy!

We're gonna wait to actually finish it up til after 3.5 comes out in order to be fully compatible with the revision, and I'll post more details as we finalize things.... but rest assured, when it comes out it'll rock!

I don't want to give much away here, so for now I'll just say three more words: Edible Jelly Template!! :D :D :D

Taking submissions?
I've got a bunch of good monsters just stewing, and would be willing to contribute them to the cause.

Demiurge out.

Actually no, I'm sorry to say... A big part of the point is to have our names on it pretty much exclusively to help establish our dnd writing credentials.

After much discussion, the two of us who started the project agreed to keep our number of authors down to three (all filled) plus our financial backer; but if we meet with success we may do another book and may be more open to other peoples' submissions then.

Sorry! But thanks for the offer... ;)

Will it be hardback or paper-back? Also, are you starting a new company, or will it be released through an established publisher?

Can hardly wait to see the result. :D

Probably a softbound, but we're still debating and looking at bids from different companies. What do you think? Is hardbound a significant factor in your rpg buying habits?

We're publishing it ourselves- Mongrel Productions will be the name of the co.

Not really, but a hardbound can sustain much more abuse (unless it was the MM:D ). I'd buy it either way.

sorry! forgot the 't

Jester: Well, Hardback is preferred. Although I have bought paper-back as well. (specifically the splash books, monsters of faerûn™, magic of faerûn™, and lords of darkness.)
But so far, I have only bought one non-WotC book: Tome of Horrors, mainly because my name is in it, oh, and because it rocks! But I really prefer hardback.

Demiurge: Well, the first printing of the Core books hold up quite well, My DMG is from the first printing, and it sees as much use as my MM, but it holds together better...
