Q for Mongoose Matt

Looking through your Collector Series, I've noticed how the declaration of OGC is far more ambiguous than some of your other products. For instance, in the Travelers Series, you've listed the OGC at the bottom of the page. In the former, however, you mention "derived from the SRD" (a wide term, as just about everythng d20 is "derived", even if only in the loosest sense, from the SRD), and then state that all other "significant" etc. are IP.

I was hoping to use some things from your works in some online stuff that I had planned for an upcoming print release (character write-ups, and so on), as I think some of the stuff is pretty compatible with what I've done, but I can't decipher exactly what I can and cannot touch. Personally, I like sticking with OGC in my "fan" stuff as much as I do with my writing, so I wanted to be sure not to step on Mongoose's toes. I also thought posting this question here would do everyone some good.

Hi there,

First off, thanks for getting in touch - we tend to bevery lenient when it comes to others using our aterial, so a quick chat normally straightens things out!

On to your question though. Basically, we are saying _any_ d20 rule is OGC. Of course, it has to be. Anything derived from the SRD must be OGC, no matter what a publisher says!

If it is a rule, use it freely. If it is background text, give us a shout and we'll see what we can do.

Simple ;)
