Question About Bull Rush And Darkness

El_Gringo

First Post
Something interesting came up in last night's game. The characters were fighting within a darkness spell. One of the characters wanted to bull rush the square ahead of him, regardless of whether or not the enemy was there. As it turns out, there was an enemy in that square. At that time, would bull rush work as normal or would that move be deemed illegal/impossible? Thanks in advance!

No clue...

(Sometimes I like to show I'm not a know-it-all.)

LOL:D

I see no reason why it wouldn't work as normal, with the only differnce being to take in the fact his opponent has fuill concealment.

Personall, I show I'm not a know it all by just being wrong. Hopefullyy, not this time though. ;)

I have no idea how it should work, but in my campaign a very similar thing happened.

I would say Bull Rush doesn't have to roll against Concealment, simply because it doesn't have to hit.

You can cover enough space that if there is something in the 5' square you are rushing into, it will be rushed no matter what.

The character rushing would still incur an attack of oppurtunity however.

I would have it act as normal.
You don't make a attack roll when Bull Rushing, your just trying to push whatever is in the square back.So if a character managed to pick the right square,he is just as likely to effect them as if the darkness wasn't there.

yep - this misses automatically if the opponent is not there - and hits if he is there.

ummm... not sure if the character has concealment himself - after all, this is a darkness spell here.

I know that if an opponent has cover of 1/2 or better - you can't get an AoO on them. Not sure about concealment.

Even if you get the attack, you have to "guess" the square it is coming from, and you suffer a 50% miss chance on the AoO. It is a bit hard to "guess" fairly when you are the GM...
