Question about bull rush

Stalker0

Legend
When your bullrushing someone and the victim gets to push you back, the ph says if there's someone in that square you fall prone (how this happens I have no idea).

Does that imply that when I push someone into someone else, they fall prone?

Also, this parts a house rule question, so ignore it if you feel its inappropriate. I house ruled that when someone has been pushed back the 5 ft that they are effectively offbalance (in game terms this is a lose of dex bonus, +2 to hit them) What do you guys think of that?

1. I don't really know-presumably.

2. Characters can move through spaces occupied by allies. The movement of a bull rush ends in the opponent's square, so you could move through a square occupied by an ally and bull rush into an adjacent square occupied by an enemy. If you then lost the opposed Strength check, you would be pushed back into your ally's square and fall prone.

You are allowed to move through an ally's square, but not end your movement there. If you do, then you fall prone.

That generalization could be applied to situations other than a Bull Rush. Heck, someone could do it voluntarily for all I care :)

As for your house rule, being off balance is a pretty big deal. Just ask the rogues in the group. But perhaps it is realistic. Up to you really. I'd say try it out and see what if it makes a big difference. You can always change it back later (though you might want to let your player's know that the rule is "under probation".)
