Question about Critical Hits

What damage is doubled in a critical hit (or tripled) and what damage mearly stacks. for example take a hit of a longsword, 1d8. If there is a +4 str bonus is that doubled as well? same thing for sneak attacks elemental damage etc etc.

Dice of damage aren't multiplied in, but everything else is. Using a +1 flaming burst longsword in one hand with Str 18, damage is 1d8+5 and 1d6 fire normally, or 2d8+10 and 1d6 fire on a crit.

Sneak attack is expressed dice, so it isn't multiplied.

Everything is double if it is in the form of +X. If it is +XdY, it isn't doubled.

Thus power attack, ranger favored enemy bonuses, strength bonuses, etc. are all doubled. Sneak attacks, Holy/Unholy damage, and elemental enhancement damage is not doubled.

A good general rule is that any extra damage that is expressed as +X where X is a fixed number (ie. +3 from he enhancement bonus on a weapon) is multiplied. Extra damage that is done in the form of dice (sneak attack, elemental, etc) is not multiplied. The only extra dice you get on a critical are for the base weapon damage (or specific weapon properties that have a specific function on a critical hit like elemental burst properties).
