question about mods.

As far as I can tell, damage is just about the only thing that is not +1/2 level. I cant tell for sure at the moment, as my books don't have a search function :D

I think this is the case. My reasoning would be that powers increase the damage dice, and at will powers become 2[W] at paragon tier... or was it epic? anyway you get a few stat boosts along the way, so that ups your damage little bit, and power attack helps too.

yeah now looking at everything again, it does make sense that atk is 1/2 level and damage is not. After reading in the book some more.

okay, so damage is just like.. 1d6 + str mod.. while the attack is the 1d20 +1/2 level + str mod?

Yeppers. (Or in some cases, the damage mod is based on Dex, Cha, Con, etc). But, damage isn't + 1/2 level anywhere (everything else is).

Between design diaries, excerpts and the DDXP characters (and even the very first spined devil stats from last year) it is clear that stat mod is exactly the same as it has always been, and that you only add stat mod to damage.

Attacks, defences and skills benefit from a "+1/2 level" bonus, and monsters happen to have that included next to their ability scores because most of the time you are wanting an ersatz (unskilled) skill check from the monster rather than its ability mod.

Cheers
