Question for Vigilance (or anyone else, for that matter)

I'm aware how the OGL and such works for d20, but what about other systems? IE, I have an idea to translate some of the 'color knights' from Legends of Excalibur into variant subclasses for the Knight class in Castles and Crusades. What would be the legality of my doing so? I imagine it might be OK, as Castles and Crusades is still derived from the SRD, but figured I'd throw the query out here as a double-check.

You'll have to check the Open Game License that indicates what's Open Game Content (OGC) and what's not. Short answer is, if the "color knights" from Legends of Excalibur are declared as open content and the Knight class in Castles and Crusades is declared as Open Content, then it's theoretically legal.

Castles and Crusades, if it's derived from the SRD, also has its own declaration of OGC. You should check the OGC declarations of both first.

Everything but the description (the paragraphs of flavor that follow the class name before the Requirements) of those Knight classes is open. So go ahead and make use of them. Make sure to note your sources in section 15.
