question on reading PDFs

In a recent PDF I bought (and I've had the problem with a few others I've had), an irritation I've noticed is that quite often the front page, or perhaps other pages, seem to have a default viewing setting (fit in window, fit screen, fit widtch etc). I prefer the 'fit width' setting and always set it at that. In the PDF i'm talking about I always set it as such when I open the document. However, every time I flip back to the front page, the viewer resets the size to something very small ('Fit in Window).

It's a minor irritation, but is there a solution. Is there someway to set my viewer (Adobe Reader 5.1) to automaticallly view all documents with the 'fit width' setting?

sounds to me like the publisher choose the fit to window option in the documents settings, the answer is there is no way to fix this if you only own the reader.

Note To Self

Here's the lesson I'm taking away from this: I'm going to have to download a copy of Acrobat Reader to look at the PDFs I make from now on to get the reader's experience with the document.

Oh sure, if you want to take away the obvious lesson

Seriously though, what would you (or others) consider a good reason to set the default view?

Looking at Acrobat Reader, it's just as easy to change the view magnification after opening the PDF as it is in full blown Acrobat to suit your tastes. And even if you don't manually set a default view on open, there is a "default" view on open anyway (fit width, I believe) when creating a PDF that I don't believe the user of Acrobat Reader could change anyway (I think).

Personally, I kind of like the idea of a default open of the cover in "full page" magnification.
