I'd simply say that any time they sleep the forced march time limit (8 hours) is reset. As a result not sleeping means that any traveling the next day is added to the time traveled the previous day.
Example: PC's A and B travel 8 hours in one day, PC A sleeps normally but PC B doesn't sleep so he can stand guard. The following day PC A's forced march limit is reset so he can travel the normal 8 hours before make fort saves. PC B however still has his 8 hours travel from the previous day around and will need to make forced march saves if het intends to do any traveling.
P.S.: There should be logical limits on how long people can go without sleep (even when they don't travel).
