Question (Perhaps Meta, not sure)... Dutch Trolls?

In this thread there are a few mentions of Dutch trolls. Since I actually know most Dutch posters here, I even met a few, I would like to know where this does refer to.

This is NOT at troll :D

There is some mention of Trolls SPEAKING in dutch, not actually being dutch.

Dutch folklore doesn't have any trolls. The original trolls are scandinavian.

Maybe a DM used dutch to speak in character for trolls.
I don't really see dutch working out as trollspeak though.

Now using Klingon as Orcspeak...that works for me.

I just find it hard to believe that an entire American gaming group speaks Dutch. Actually, I would find it hard to believe that one American DM would speak Dutch. it's such an obscure language and, from an international point of view, completely insignificant, since all Dutchmen under age 40 should be semifluent in English, and in practice, they actually are fluent.

And there are two references. I just thought that one Dutch poster here posted a troll in the last two weeks, or I just missed a famous troll (though wasn't "Alignment is Americanocentric" posted by a Dutchman?)

As for an American DM speaking Dutch, maybe he's got Dutch ancestors, or is an immigrant himself.

I also found this in the thread:
Ah, yes. But, a German invented the printing press, without which there would be no D&D books published

While it's simple to see that 1430 (the year that Laurens Janszoon Coster used a printing press) is earlier than 1456 (the year that Güttenburg printed the bible). :)

Perhaps. i thought it was a reference to a troll post.

Yeah, just because the Germans printed more widely read stuff they ran away with such an important invention!

Most people also think Sony (Japanese) invented the CD, while it was actually Philips (Dutch).

Lots of Americans also seem to think Heineken is a German beer. This however, is good, because that's exactly what Freddie Heineken intended; that is to say, he knew German sounding beer would sell better than Dutch sounding beer.

So, what's left is the Music Cassette (Philips again) and the Microscope both of which are widely known things which are actually attributed to Dutch inventors.

Looking stuff up, I read on www.atlas.com that the Netherlands is the third exporter of Agricultural goods in value in the world, only surpassed by the US and France. In absolute value! I am amazed... according to the same site, The Netherlands is not even twice the size of the State of New Jersey (one of the smallest states in the US)... and only 4 to 5% of the population actually works in the agricultural field... And with our enormously high population density as well.

Wow.

I am feeling quite patriotic now :D

Yes, but only to reaffirm my Dutchness, since going away shows you what makes you Dutch in the first place... oh alright that's not true... yeah, I wanted to study abroad, so sue me... :(

Anyway, my flight leaves in 17 hours and I will be back in the Netherlands for 3 whole weeks! Hurray!
