Actually, I expect Dragonscale Husk to be an "armor equivalent" AC bonus, and would not stack with things like Mage Armor. I base that on the notion that Dragonscale Husk is replacing your armor proficiencies and that it is far more similar to armor than the exalted AC bonus Vow of Poverty characters get that does not stack with armor bonuses (not that you can wear any in that case, of course). Also, some quotes from the book: "You gain the extraordinary ability to grow a thick, scaly hide that protects you like armor." "Your dragonscale husk is treated as medium armor for the purpose of determining your speed and whether or not you can use class features..." "You cannot wear any other armor while your husk is present." So umm...I think it's pretty clear what the intent was for bonus type... There are several parts where it says it can't be affected by spells or enhanced like armor, but i guess the AC progression is meant to account for that. This kind of reminds me of when people argue that Warforged's composite plating should be treated as natural armor just because it's attached to their bodies. I will say the line about not gaining any benefit from a feat, racial trait, or special ability that would add to armor class is EXTREMELY poorly written. Way too broad and punishing, should be clarified to not stack with any other armor bonus. I also think they should have made it clear that level = CLASS level (or at the very least, class levels in classes with heavy armor proficiency, which you then forfeit in order to continue husk advancement), not character level. I've seen people try to cheese the text to say they can just dip into Fighter for the husk and then continue to gain the level up benefits in a class like Rogue. *Reads over again* Ok, I see that you must continue to forfeit armor proficiencies from new classes or else lose the husk. Even so, I find it rather cheesy to just dip and get it, and then continue on in a class that would not qualify from the alternate class feature and continue to accrue benefits.
