Races of Faerun is the better of the two, IMO, plus its loaded with tons of new feats. Races of Faerun is a very cool and much thicker book, on the other hand. I recommend it even to those who don't run the Realms as so much of it is useful in any setting. What makes me not want to buy Arms & Equipment Guide is that it's $26.95 and no interior color! That makes this book more expensive and less "deluxe" than Bastion's Arms & Armor which I already gladly own (though the new WoTC book has better art by comparison to Bastion's A&A). It also repeats all the weapons from the splatbooks and most of the equipment/vehicles from Dragon and the splatbooks, which is good to have them all in one place, but not when it takes away from the page count for new material. The book is the thinnest hardcover I've seen in a long time! Arms & Equipment Guide is still good, but is a bit of a rip-off for $26.95, especially if you already have the splatbooks and Dragon issues. It was nice to see old favorites updated for 3e like the weapon "Whelm" from 1e's WHITE PLUME MOUNTAIN in A&EG, though.
