Yep. It is stated as November 04 because that's what originally was planned. It has been pushed back, and Races of Destiny has been pushed forward instead.

You know, I can understand elves being one of the races featured in Races of the Wild, but why halflings? Halflings don't seem to be nearly as in love with nature as the elves are (unless you count ghostwise halflings from FR). Even gnomes are more of a "race of the wild" than halflings are.

I would have designed the books this way:

Races of Stone: Gnomes and dwarves.
Races of the Wild: Elves (and by extension, half-elves) and Orcs (and by extension, half-orcs).
Races of Destiny: Humans and Halflings.

That is most likely due to the nomadic nature that halflings "have adopted" for third edition.

Even that nomadic thing is strictly in civilized lands, though. They pretty much fill the same niche as humans as far as population goes, basically falling into small groups that have either a parasitic (read: steal from) or a symbiotic (hard-working short people, but good with their hands) relationship with the local human populace.

Besides, bonus to saves versus fear + racial luck bonus to saves = race of destiny, IMO.

Perhaps we would be better served as consumers if all of these books were pushed back a couple of months and the extra time taken to edit and playtest them properly?

Personally, I've got more than enough D&D books. I'm open to purchasing more, of course, but I'm tired of poor design and poor editing.

I think they are getting enough time to edit them properly - but the freelance editing they've been doing recently has come back to hurt them.

With regard to balance, I think it just shows how indivdual the idea of balance can be.

Cheers!

With Races of Stones on the shelves and the goliaths well-known to all who've picked up the book, I'm curious if anyone has information on the new race from Races of the Wild? I noticed elsewhere on this site mention of the illumians from the Races of Destiny supplement, so the new "wild" race is the only one that remains a mystery (at least to me). Any hints or clues regarding this one?
