So, in the ENWorld chatroom there are constant pleas for plot hooks... solutions for problems and plot entanglements. Over the years I have thrown out a few hundred plot hooks for various sources... so I figured I would offer myself up for the wonderment of ENWorlders. My services are free, and only require the following:
1.) State the following: Game type (Gothic Horror? Arabian Nights? Swords and Sorcery), Party makeup (some hooks work best if there are different members involved), Leading Up (What are the players doing RIGHT NOW), and Outcome (is this going to be for information, riches, etc.)
2.) No systems unless those systems are vital to an understanding and creation of the plot hook. D&D is D&D, a Future game in a Future game. If there are any extant pieces of the game which need to be discussed (special races, etc.) then please mention them
.
3.) I will suggest reskinning things when possible, so don't expect exacting statblocks... because this is a hook.
A few sample hooks:
Omen - Modern Fantasy Game - Arcana-focused party - Seeking Information.
Children in the city have begun to change their jump rope rhymes. Instead of the handed-down standards, the girls and boys skip to dreary rhymes about the (current supernatural threat).
Information - Arabian/Swords and Sorcery - Party N/A - New Contact.
An ancient woman, said to be over 700 years old, lives in a deep chasm. Said to be born of the djinn themselves, the woman is known as the Guardian of the cave. For a small price (water, food, and salt) the Guardian will give the party some of the special ma'sal (a honeyed tobacco) and invite them to smoke from her ancient battered hookah. The ma'sal gives a feeling of calm, but when the party enters into the small passageway out of the cave they hear the voices of tortured souls sacrificed to a foul creature who was once the original Guardian. These voices give cryptic information on a single question each member asks as they leave.

These are just roughs, I rarely keep anything
but if this is the type of hook you're looking for... throw me some questions for advice
