Random lists

Hi there.
Small question for you RPG software folks.

Let's say you're running a campaign and you've gone through all the books you plan on allowing and made a list of all the feats, spells, monsters, and magic items you are going to include in your campaign.

What if you want to make a random table out of these items?
Like rolling up random scrolls found in a treasure trove. I could use the one in the DMG, but what if I want to include those spells on the random list that I decided to use from Complete Arcane?
Or rolling up magic items found in that trove. I could use the DMG lists but I want to include the magic items from other sources as well.

Anyone know of a utility that lets you do this? Create customized d% random lists to generate scrolls, treasures, etc?

Or, does anyone know how to do this in MS Excel? I, being a PC Tech, am pretty proficient with Excel, but this is one function I couldn't figure out how to do precisely.

You can that sort of thing with TableSmith: http://www.mythosa.net/Utils.html.

There's also a set of 3.5 treasure generation tables here: http://www.mythosa.net/TabGallery.html. New items can be added to the existing tables.

There are actually quite a few developed applications to handle this now a days.

NBos has one, which is a different style then Tablesmith. I must admit I find the code to creating tables a little easier to follow.

NPC Designer can do it inside Encounter Designer: Granted for more basic then the Table Smith approach but it works wonders because of the Designer Engine behind it.
