Random Villain Generation (Kalamar)

Having just finished reading the Kalamar Villains Design Handbook, the only thing I was dissapointed in was the lack of random tables for generating a villain on the fly. Therefore, using the book as a guide, I made up some tables myself. They are on a .doc file.

Using them I generated the following ideas for villains:

A Chaotic Neutral Half-elf Fighter. He is out for revenge, with a well thought out plan for justice. He is driven by a lust for prestige, obviously a prestige denied to him.

A Neutral Evil Human Paladin (obviously fallen). He is power mad and a mercenary general. He is afraid to die. Currently he is working with the local military. Likely he is planning on using the military in some selfish power scheme.

A Lawful Evil Human Wizard. He is a dark messiah of some foul God, murdering anyone opposed to his lord. Driven by sorrow, with a passion for fine art, he is currently a member (perhaps a leader) of a mercenary band.

I am finding this a nifty way to brainstorm plot ideas. Anyway, thought I would share the tables and see what others thought. Suggestions and comments are welcome

Oh and one thing, the tables are written with Kalamar in mind and the archetypes are taken from the Villain Design Handbook. Having that makes understanding some of them a bit easier but is probably not completely necessary.

Ok, one more randomly designed villain.

This one is a Lawful Evil Human Rogue. He is an inhuman Killing Machine, mindlessly hunting down his prey without remorse or conscience. He is driven by a love for children. Perhaps he kills children out of misguided love, or more likely he mercilessly slays anyone he percieves as harming children. He is affiliated with the local thieves guild, though it seems likely that it is a loose association.

I get the feeling I must have been the only one to put together random dungeons from the 1e DMG and stock them with random monsters just for the fun of it.

Wow!

That is great, I havent looked at it much, but I will definetly steal that for my DM binder! Thanks for the work. The lists are enough and then to be able to roll if I suffer from a block or need a quick villian.

NOPE! :)

Some of my fondest memories of my youth include camping out one night in my friends back yard (it bordered on a graveyard too... creepy) and sitting there with the Basic, Expert, Companion, and Master rules and trading of DM'ing once for each encounter and stringing a story line together as we went. Each turn we would roll a d4 to determine what book, and then a dice to determine which page, etc. etc. until we got an encounter :) was a good laugh... (Kobolds were devastating back then for us... we had a instant death on Nat 20 rule we were using) :D

fun fun I'll check this out.
