A few years ago, I got lucky and stumbled across e-bay auctions featuring hundreds of metal figures (80's grenadier, etc). IIRC, the seller had neglected to include the typical keywords that most people search for, and they were not very familiar with miniatures. Between the 3 lots, there were about 130 miniatures and I managed to buy them all for about $40. After that sale, I agreed to buy still another lot of over 50 miniatures for about $20. So I wound up getting about 180 metal figs for around $60. Hard to beat that. I also picked up another couple dozen figs at The Source that were in a $1 discount bin. They were mostly older reaper figs (not listed in their current catalogs), and some older Ral Partha/Grenadier ones. Sadly, they don't have the $1 discount bin any longer, or if they do, I don't know where it is. In addition to those, I puchased another couple dozen figs from a friend for less than a buck a fig. However, I've also purchased quite a few Reaper figures, many of them at or near list price. I haven't tallied up all my metal figs lately, but I think it is in the 300+ count range. I've primed about 80% of them, but have only painted maybe 50 of them so far. I have also bought a fair amount of plastic minis. I've got over 300 plastic figures as well. I've been averaging about 12 to 18 boxes per set (Harbinger, Dragon's Eye, Archfiends), but haven't bought any GoL or aberrations yet. I plan to, but just haven't gotten around to those yet. My wife thinks I have too many, and in some regards I agree. I may never find time to paint them all. :heh:
