Ranger ACF Question

In Complete Champion, pg. 50, they have the Champion of the Wild alternate class feature for Rangers. Reading through it we're confused, does taking this ACF grant you 1 or 2 feats at each level it takes effect (4,8,11,14)?

It says;
You can choose any feat from the following list for which you meet the prerequisites: [misc. feats], as well as from one of the following lists, depending on your combat style. Archery or Two-Weapon Combat.

Now does that mean you can only pick one feat from the misc or combat style - or does it read like you can pick one misc feat AND one combat feat (based on your chosen style at level 2)?

The first interpretation is likely the correct one.

It is from that base list plus the list you chose for your combat form. Both of them are available to choose from the way it reads.

It's only one feat that you pick, it can be a general combat feat OR a feat in your chosen weapon style. It's pretty clear from what it says right at the start for Benefit:

you can now select a bonus feat at 4th, 8th, 11th, and 14th levels

If they wanted you to get two it would have said you can select two bonus feats at 4th, 8th, 11th, and 14th. But yeah it could have been written clearer for sure!

The way it was being read was you could pick a misc feat 'as well as' a combat style feat (as in pick on misc, pick one combat, for total of 2)

What about at level 11, when you also normally get your final combat style feat? Seems like you would get two feats at that level, or else this ACF sucks even more than I recall...

well this ACF doesnt replace your combat feats from ranger so at 11 you'd get your combat style and then still get another feat you qualify for (either another combat style or a misc feat)

thats why you have to be careful with this ACF - if you multiclass say Fighter 2/Ranger 4(CotW ACF) you could technically pick up GTWF or Manyshot with this ACF from your Ranger level 4 - but if you continue advancement as a Ranger, at level 6 (ECL 8) you'd be boned out of your Combat Style Master feat as you took it already.
