Lol. sometimes :) Never-the-less, I never liked how the Ranger Combat Styles is just free feats, no matter what those feats costs. I always felt that giving a class specific "free feats" is a cop out, and very uninteresting. As someone who specializes in classes, I am sick and tired of my writers giving classes "the endurance feat for free at X level". Geez. Make it a little more interesting, please. In anycase, I think I can whip up a new combat style for you right now. Let's see. How about a Spider combat style? Arachnoid Combat (Ex): At 2nd level, a Ranger can choose to learn the Arachnoid style of combat, which teaches him how to better anticipate his opponents attack. He must declare this at the beginning of a round (before initiative is rolled), and it lasts until the end of the round. As long as he is fighting this way, he gains a +1 dodge bonus to his AC, and a 10% chance to avoid any normal successful attack. There is a downside, however, as he is penalized -2 to all attack rolls and -2 to his melee damage rolls. Improved Arachnoid Combat (Ex): At 6th level, the Ranger has improved his Arachnoid style of combat greatly. While fighting this way, his dodge bonus increases to +2 and the chance to avoid any normal successful attack increases to 20%. He is so attune to his surroundings that he gains a +1 to all initiative rolls while fighting this way. Arachnoid Mastery (Ex): At 11th level, the Ranger has become a master of Arachnoid style combat, increasing his initiative bonus to +2 when fighting this way. He still has a 20% chance of avoiding a successful attack, but if that attack is a melee attack, and he avoids it successfully this way, he gains an immediate attack of opportunity against his attacker. The Ranger may attempt this once per round. The normal Arachnoid style -2 penalties to attack and damage rolls do not apply for this attack of opportunity. Arachnoid Legend (Ex): At 16th level, the Ranger's Arachnoid style of combat has become legendary. His AC dodge bonus and initiative bonus while fighting this way each increases to +3. If the Ranger is fighting a humanoid creature while using the Arachnoid style, he may attempt an Arachnoid Strike (Su) once per encounter with one normal melee attack, which ignores the normal -2 penalty to attack rolls that this style normally incurs. Upon a successful strike, the recipient takes 1d4 points of Constitution damage. The recipient may attempt a Fortitude save (DC 22) to for half Constitution damage. GM's option: The Arachnoid strike deals Constitution damage equal to the Rangers Dexterity Bonus (if any). Thoughts? ~Le
