In the deck of many things thread Durifern…Another adventure some levels higher (Castle Amber) we attended a banquet and every course had an effect. Eating the wrong caused one player to turn into one of the ghostly figures populating the castle. Quite disruptive but luckily the player had two characters at that time…. Speaking of Amber on PC played by Jose (Ft Ord Ca 83-84) got turn into a ghost and he had one of keys. So he rolled up a new character and had his ghost taunt the PCs from the mirrors. Now that was player and he was newbie. One pc who still campaigns IMC still has to eat twice the amount of food per day. This was from a different group. Curses, death, deck of many things, and bad fortune and how they affect the game depends on what type of game you run. Rare the monsters are generally bloody and the PCs will not be hurt by bad dice or stupid decisions. Medium. Both monsters and pc get pinked but PCs will not be hurt by bad dice. Well done. Some times the pc wins some times the orcs. Keep a back up pc handy especially if you been rolling snake eyes since the start of the session. My games are generally well done with new players or new system starting in medium. This allows the players to high five when my Bbeg goes down in one round because the tanks and thief all rolled critical. And me to high five when three normal orcs critical the mage. Since I do run a well done game if the PCs have the money and time they can generally find a raise dead. Because a raise dead is just another quarter in the slot for an extra life.
