I got a sneak peak free pass to go see it with my wife last wednesday. We were quite worried about it beforehand since the first movie really screwed with our heads. We couldn't sleep after seeing it, couldn't stand to look at the TV either on or off for three days and felt uneasy at the sight of running water, horses, mirrors, flies, and any ring shaped objects for weeks afterwards.

I can tell you, for the sake of my sanity and wellbeing, that I've never been happier to see a sequel suck. It is nowhere near as scary as the first movie. Where the first movie scared you in its subtlety and mystery, the second tries to impress you with a slew of outlandish CGI effects, "Watch out! The evil pixels are after you!" ;)

The mindbending suspense of being stalked by a malevolent but subtle evil is replaced with all too frequent Samara sightings in this one. Watching the villain enjoy a penut butter and jelly sandwich really lessens that otherwordly presence she had in the first movie. The scariest part IMHO, was in seeing how little the boy seems to have aged between movies. And maybe its just me, but doesn't his head seem way too big for his body? A mediocre sequel at best. Wait for the DVD.

I saw a review of it a few days ago and that is what turned me off of ever seeing it. It had the scene where the kid is in the bathtub and all of the water is being CGIed up to the ceiling. Looked spectaculay crappy. That and www.rottentomatoes.com has less than favourable reviews, too.

That PB&J thing actually works better than you think.
Freddy Krueger, Jason Vorhees, Michael Myers, Pinhead... all you needed to soothe them was a nicely made Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwich. ;) Particularly if the Jelly was Blueberry.
