Re-Entry Bubble

Level 2
Components: S,M
Range: Touch
Duration: Special
Save: Will (Can only be cast on the willing), Fort for half impact damage

When cast, the target steps out into open space. The target then begins accelerating towards the planet they are orbitting, reaching speeds of 20 atmospheric. The spell protects the target from air friction and plasma during re-entry but does not provide air or pressure. The target of this spell must provide their own protections (environmental suits work well enough for this).

Landing is more difficult, as the spells recipient strikes the ground at just under Mach 2 (1136 mph). The shield rechannels most of the kinetic energy, but the spells user still takes 5d6 subdual damage (Fort save for half). regardless of the save, the recipient is considered stunned for the next round.

The spell component for this spell is a glass globe sealed in a vacuum.

Looks good. Maybe I would do it a 4th level spell, although I don't think it will ruin game balance in remaining level 2.

Heck, if I were running a d20 Future game w/ Urban Arcana thrown in, I'd not hesitate to consider it yoinked. I might set it at spell level 3, though with earliest access to the spell in d20 UrA being at level 8 or so and the primary use of the spell as a 'oh ****, I'm screwed' prevention spell, I'd not be too worried about it getting overused at level 2, especially with the non-lethal damage hit. Flavorful, useful, but I doubt it's overpowered. I like it.

Again, many thanks for the response!

We figured it as a mix of Shield and the pisonic power Skate. Less actual protection, more of just cutting through the air as quickly as possible.

Our take on it though...
