If you are one of my IRL peeps... stay out!! Ok, I might be running a 4E game and something I came up with is this as a part of the campaign setting: This campaign is going to have gods from Eberron, Forgotten Realms, Greek Mythology, and the default setting. Most are from FR and default, with 1 or 2 from Greek Myth and Eberron. The Raven Queen whose portfolio is Death, Winter and Fate is looking to acquire the powers and influence of the The Fates, from greek mythology, whose influence I have as Prophesy and Destiny. Now, this is for a campaign setting that has both the Raven Queen and the Fates in it. For the Raven Queen I have her Fate portfolio more about the inevitability of fate, as in Death and Taxes. In context, we are talking relatively short term things within an creatures life; and the Fates deal with Prophesy and Destiny, things that are really, really long term the span of empires or the life of gods and other powerful beings. The Raven Queen is a fairly new god and in her history she is somewhat of portfolio envier and always looks for ways to acquire more power. The Fates are older than pretty much everything and may, perhaps be older than the Primordials and the Dawn War. How in name of Gygax could the Raven Queen ever hope to bring about the end of the Fates and acquire their power? I am not necessarily going to let that happen, per se, but this is something that will be happening in the background and may spill into the foreground. The only thing that came to mind might be finding the body of a long dead entity that may be as old as the Fates and harnessing that power along with the power of souls to try and force her way into it and drain them or something like that... or how about an eldritch machine about as old with the ability to shift powers of divine beings.... That seems somewhat cliche and I am hesitant to use it. What are your thoughts? I am sure someone else can be more inventive than I. Thanks all!
