am considering running a D&D 3.5 Ravenloft campaign online. My preference is to run it as a chat game using a combination of TeamSpeak (for voice) and Klooge (for everything else). Both of these programs are free downloads; Klooge requires a paid-for license but I would provide guest status to the players. Three particular things would be required of the players: one, a broadband internet connection (dial-up won't cut it); two, access to a copy of the Ravenloft 3.5 Player's Handbook (or the 3.0 core setting book in a pinch); and three, availability to show up one weeknight a week from 8PM- Midnight EASTERN STANDARD TIME. (My experience with chat games always includes at least one prospective player who lives in a different time zone and overlooks the differential, showing up late or cutting out early.) Players would start at first level. Any of the Arthaus-edition 3.0/3.5 Ravenloft races are acceptable; no other race (including templates such as vampire) will be accepted. Any of the core classes from the Player's Handbook or Expanded Psionics are acceptable as starting classes; so is the Swashbuckler from Complete Warrior (if the character is from an appropriate domain). No other core class (including NPC classes like Expert) will be permitted. Feats from the D&D and Ravenloft Core books are acceptable; from any other source requires DM approval. PCs must be native to Ravenloft, and may be from any Core domain; from any other domain requires special permission. Don't even ask to play a character that doesn't fit into the above restrictions. They are reasonably loose and no exceptions will be permitted (no, you can't play a monster yourself, that can be fun but it isn't the campaign I'm willing to run). Interested individuals who can meet the above criteria should email me at otaku@unclebear.com. Put 'Ravenloft' in the subject line! Whether the campaign actually runs or not depends on the quality of responses I get. Don't post replies here; it might be a while before I check this forum again. INTRODUCTION: THE LEGACY OF VAN RICHTEN In a world wrapped by Mists and ruled by terror, Rudolph van Richten was the greatest champion in the fight against the forces of darkness... until he disappeared without a trace. Now, years later, he has been declared legally dead and his estate finally being probated. Among those named in Van Richten's will are a number of inexperienced adventurers with no known connection to the missing champion. You are one of these number, assembled in the sleepy town of Mordentshire for the reading of Van Richten's will. But apparently having been named in the great man's will has attracted the attention of mysterious and sinister forces to you...
