I think I assumed that the 'Show us your character!' enthusement was more 'talking about your character and his/her background' and not 'roleplay/be your character IC'. It just hurt a bit to have it happen on the Forums for my local Society chapter, but then again, I was the one who chose to attempt to roleplay Boe, and over and above that, I chose to join and do it on those particular Forums.
