Well, I'm not all that fond of what I have seen for the D&D comics, but I can't say as Pathfinder will be better... except for that part about Alex Ross! (Yeah, only the covers, but....)

I don't think edition wars will really enter into it - I don't hear much about the novel lines in that regard, so I expect that the comics will be judged by their own lights - the cheery pink lights of fandom.

It's not like either books or comics are likely to be all that hampered by the rules.
