How about making only one healing spell work per character per day. Reguardless of spell level, just ONE spell &/or 1 potion.
Clerics wouldn't have to worry about spending all thier spells healing the party, cuz there would be only so much they could do. Characters would spend more down time healing between big fights (which seems more plausable).
What do you guys think?

As to the limiting healing I would say that if you are running regular style D&D with plenty of combat or any type of dungeon crawls, Don't
The reason is just as thundershotput it. Everytime the players get hurt they will flee.
I really would get tired of adventures like
Ok melee is over-- use healing
Next melee -- Oh we took damage! flee for 48 hours (24 to heal up and 24 to allow another healing session) . If I expected a lot of combat it would drive me crazy
Otherwise it should be no problem.
