[QUOTE="SiderisAnon, post: 4644080, member: 44949"] Thanks for the suggestions so far. I will do some research into some of the games mentioned here. I know people with Seven Seas, Traveler, and (I think) Reign, so those will be the easiest to look at (plus the Window download provided). FATE I already have and it's on my short list. One of the systems mentioned, HERO, is one we're well familiar with. As much as we love that system, it's just more work than I want to put into a game right now. (I'm good at math, but I don't want to have to do that much math for every important NPC.) I generally use HERO for superhero games. There were posts about trying to do social interactions within the rules. I'm not really looking for a "social combat" system like Exalted has. My social situations tend to be strongly about the roleplay, with some skill rolls thrown in to help offset places where the character is better or more knowledgeable than the player. I'm just looking to get away from something combat based and go to something more skill based (or flexible based). Too much of D&D 3.5 is based around the combat. You can't really have a master merchant, for instance, without applying a bunch of levels from something, which then comes with combat skill and hit points and such. It can be done in D&D, it's just not a game well suited to it. On the economic simulator, I plan to draw heavily on Expeditious Retreat's Magical Medieval Society: Silk Road. I used it heavily in the last trading game we did. I also use Western Europe to help simulate when they get land. The ship combat is one that I really want to find a good system for, even if we have to go for a tactical type wargame. The ship combat is going to be more about the ships than the PCs, so wargame type works. (The PCs will matter for controlling the ship, but they won't be regularly defeating enemy ships with just the wizard's spells.) Again, thanks for the suggestions so far and please keep them coming.
