There's a manga anthology out there called Shonen Jump! that you may want to pick up. It's targeted is boys around your desired age range. Here are a few titles from it. Naruto! It's about ninja kids, but it's actually way cooler than that. It has no alcohol use, except for a couple of characters who drink sake, and no nudity except for a few times when it's comical. It's in bookstores now, you can see if it's too much (which I don't think it is). Bleach Ichigo is a boy who can see ghosts. He meets a God of Death named Rukia. A temporary power transfer between them gets screwed up and Ichigo has to fight demons in Rukia's place. Hikaru no Go A boy named Hikaru is searching through his grandpa's attic when he finds a Go board. A disembodied voice speaks to him and he finds himself possessed by the best Go player in the history of the world: Fujiwara no Sai, an overly emotional, Heian era (1000 CE) courtier spirit who wants Hikaru to play Go for him. A strangely compelling read for a manga about a board game. Watch out though, because kids might want you to get a Go board after that. One Piece The anime is now being shown on FoxBox. The chronicles of a kid named Monkey D. Luffy who wants to be a pirate. That's all I can say as I couldn't handle the drawing style, but most people seem to absolutely love it. And there are a few others in there as well. Girls as well as boys will like those. Here are some more which are more unisex. Bleach has a prominent female character (Rukia), but the others are somewhat lacking. Here are some which feature strong females: Nausicaa Hana Yori Dango (Boys Over Flowers) KareKano Uh, I'll think of more later.
