Hey guys,

Up to this point I've been using Microsoft Frontpage to do up my campaign website, and it's been servicable enough. However, I'd like to add some snazzy rendered graphics to the page. You know the kind I'm talking about. :D Are there any programs you've had good luck with? Programs that are fairly simple to use? I'm familiar with Adobe Photoshop, though some rendering programs I've seen in the past have been...significantly more difficult to figure out.

Also, if you know of a good online HTML tutorial, I'd appreciate a pointer. I'm specifically interested in learning how to insert dropdown menus.

Thanks for any help.

Do you mean this page?

And, more importantly, what version of Frontpage are you using? 2003 (which I use at work) is a great HTML editor that can do drop-down menus et al. Not to mention having some fair "snazzy graphic" capabilities, even if you stick with what it gives you.

Try adding "display:block" to the CSS of your A tags, and play around with different background states.

As for an HTML tutorial--once you get to the "wrap tags around things" stage, you'll just need to learn by doing.

As for graphics software--if you've got Photoshop, use it. If you don't, and can't afford it or Macromedia's counterpart, try WinGIMP. (Which is a bit harder to learn, but much easier on the wallet.)

Actually, I was referring to this page. Which is not exactly a whole lot more complicated than the one you linked, which is some years old. :p

I'm basically interested in removing the unwieldy links at the bottom for a nice small drop-down menu bar, and adding some nicer title graphics here and there. I'll have to check the version of Frontpage I'm using, though from what you say it must not be the most current. The only DHTML option I had available was the on-mouse-over option I used with the color-changing griffons.

I'm away from my web-working computer right now, but I'll check on the version of Frontpage I have. It may be as simple as getting that updated.

Regarding Adobe, it hasn't been able to do quite the kinds of things I've seen done, but that could be a combination of user ineptitude and an extreme lack of plugins. :o
