Hi all. Been kicking around this one for a while in my head. Right now I'm checking for interest. Every player is a DM and a character. This game would take place in my personal world of "Magescape". The world itself is based around various orbiting layers of complete semi-autonomous shells around a central core. The world is supposed to have several hundred of these layers. I myself have only developed and played a few dozen layers. This game would take place on an entirely different layer from ones I have previously done. Because this is not one I have developed each player would develop a portion of the storyline, the landscape, and the history of this layer and hence the campaign. A few things: This is going to be a cinematic game, you are going to describe your actions in combat and out as if for a book or something similar. None of this "I shoot the head orc" stuff. More like "I nock an arrow on my bow bringing it to bear on the lead orc as he charges me head on, the aim is careful and beads of sweat drip from my brow as I loose the arrow..." I don't care if you describe your character in the first or third person by the way, if you do it in first please put your character name at the top of the post. I will assign "Results" DMs. These DMs, based on your description and possibly a roll of the dice, will tell if an actions succeeds or not and by what degree (in addition to providing a cinematic description of said result "The lead orc is caught full on by the arrow, as he lets out his dieing breath he attempts to curse your name by finds no ability to do so when blood gushes from his mouth") Results Dms will not be able to judge their own results, another Results DM or I can do that. (Note I can determine my own results, I've done cinematic long enough to keep it fair) Don't be afraid of character death. You describe your own death, not a DM. He only gets to tell you the effect was fatal, what it looks like and your death throes are up to you. No PC goes out like Greedo. A parting word or two is fine, as is one last swing of retribution. I will put up some world specific stuff like dieties, universal events, etc. General storyline will come partly with them and partly after character creation. Character creation will be done by submitting a character background on this thread, if you don't want other people to read certain parts stick them in a spoiler line. We'll do it honor system, don't look at other peoples spoiler lines. After you have a background I'll give out levels and how I want characters built. Not everyone will be the same level. Note: My character will be the Big Bad, although I might allow another Big Bad around. Its worked well before and it adds depth to the story if done right.
