I like the idea of daily/weekly archive pages, rather than monthly, but I don't usually go to the archives so it doesn't matter too much to me.Put all the archive links on a separate page.If you do all that, you should be down to one sidebar (use the left one, I think). You would be updating multiple pages, but each page should have less stuff to deal with, and most of the sub-pages would get updated less frequently.
