Just a heads up to anyone interested in the debut Horizon book from FFG, Redline. We've created a Horizon message board on our website and are putting out downloadable prestige class .pdfs every now and then. Currently, you can find the Highway Hero and the Brewer on the rants page and/or rants archive.

What the heck is redline? The site indicates it is kinda like Road Warrior, I think. HOw much setting is there, or is it JUST a post-holocaust road battle thing?

It's a d20 minigame, which means we have an original d20 rules set (backgrounds, classes, skills, feats, equipment, and combat rules, not to mention rad/bio poisoning and the mutations that develop from it). The setting is, as you mentioned, post-apocalyptic Road Warrior-esque. Decidedly not Gamma World, however . . . more gritty.

There's a largish section on background, which is my favorite part of the book, defining all of the various factions, environments, and dangers you might face playing Redline. The setting is non-specific, just like the Road Warrior movies . . . the story takes place "somewhere else" after "the world moved on," intentionally adopting a storytelling vagueness so you can shape the details yourself. Some folks have recommended, pretty intelligently I think, that you could quite easily use real-world, modern-day maps to base your campaign off of. It might be a long time before the players realize they're motoring around in a post-apocalyptic version of their homeland!
