Referrals count??

I clicked on my profile for the first time in aeons, and saw that I have 3 Referrals. What exactly does that mean??

When registering an EN World account, somebody (well, 3 somebodies) entered your user name in the "who told you of our site?" field. There's no way to find out who it was, however.

I think (someone correct me if I am wrong, that when someone gets a new account, they can list who referred them to the site. For sites that center on certain types of commerce, this might be useful information. However, we don't use it for anything, as far as I know.

Some sites reward people for referrals.
