Regarding Sleeping and Status Condition

Angel Tarragon

Dawn Dragon
Just something I thought up:

A character can stay awake for a length of time equal to 2/3 of the day plus an extra number of hours equal to half their Con modifier. If they do not sleep after this point they become Fatigued.

For every 4 hours after becoming fatigued, they must make a Con check. for each Con check beyond the first, there is a cumulative -1 penalty to the roll. A failed Con check indicated that the character is Exhausted.

For every 4 hours after becoming exhausted, they must make a Con check with a -2 cumulative penalty to each roll. Should they fail the Con check, the character is too weak to do anything but sleep. After a half a days worth of sleep, the character wakes up completely refreshed.

So this means an average person would become Fatigued after 16 hours. This seems like too little time to me. I mean, I habitually only get 5-6 hours of sleep a night, and I wouldn't consider myself to be fatigued at all. I would consider setting the time period at 24 hours plus the (full) Con modifier.

I have no problem with the rest of this. Seems like a decent mechanic for handling this sort of thing. The only problem I can see is that with bad rolls, a character could become too weak to do anything but sleep very quickly.

Well, as a species we sleep 1/3 of our lives away. As per mental health, we tend to have a clear mind after a good nights sleep. So, I am curious as to why you think the base time period should be bumped up to a full day?
