Reincarnate - What's your favored class?

If an elf gets reincarnated into a halfling, is the favored class of the character still the wizard or is it now the rogue?

I'd say it's still wizard, since his mindset and education shaped him that way.

I agree with that also, but If the player wants to roleplay the mental changes that one may go through (like Clackers change with polymorph in Sojourn) I'd allow the the class change as long as it flows with the story. I guess in that case I'd default to the origional racial class but give the player the option as long there's some roleplaying involved.

:D Now an Elf being reincarnated into a Kobold or Troll may have some baggage to deal with.

the case in hand

The case in hand is a warforged (favored class fighter) fighter 5/diviner 3/ ranger 2 who has been reincarnated into a halfling (favored class rogue). So if the favored class stays the same its fine, but if it changes then I am facing a -40% exp penalty!

And unless I see a very compelling argument to change, fighter will stay your favored class. :)

Of course technically a worforged can't reincarnate as a halfling. You only reincarnate into creatures of the same type (humanoids become humanoids, animals become animals). So RAW you could only become a warforged.

I leave the favored class the same, so not to screw over the character any more than is nescessary.

"Since it was never alive, a construct cannot be raised or resurrected."

Is a dead warforged a dead creature or an object?

edit: to say I don't play Eberron, so this might already be explained somewhere.

It specifies, in the ECS, that unlike other constructs, warforged can be raised or resurrected.

Warforged aren't actually constructs. They're "living constructs," which are a new creature type that includes only warforged. So yeah, the only thing you could come back as is another warforged.

The most compelling arguement (IMO, of course) states that your favored class remains the same. Physical stats change, mental ones remain. You keep your past skills, feats (including the human bonus feat, if applicable), knowledges, experience (minus the one level). Your mind, and therefore your favored class, are therefore unchanged.
