Its easier and cheaper to just make an inferior sequel, than try to remake a movie that spawned a bunch of sequels in the first place. The two Texas Chainsaw sequels really didn't have the same continuity that the Ft13 & Nightmare sequels did, so its not surprising to me that they are remaking that (btw, the trailer looks pretty good). The movie was originally ment to stand on its own, where Ft13 & especially Nightmare were designed to have sequels from the start. You could argue that Ft13 has a better chance, given that Jason wasn't the villian until the 2nd film, but given the way things are done in Hollywood these days, they'd just forget that the first time around it was Jason's mother doing the killings. So, in effect, it wouldn't be a remake, but yet another sequel anyway. Gee, I had no idea I could use the word "sequel" so many time in one answer.
