I saw this thread, about SilverMoon's group who's celebrating 27 years together (kudos, btw!!). It really got me thinking.... Today, I was driving into my hometown for a little visit, and as I rounded the 290/I35 interchange (which I hadn't actually been on before), I saw a vaguely familiar skyline greatly expanded by new buildings creeping starward, all backlit by a beautiful, beautiful fading sunset.... and strangely, at least a few of the fond memories that sprang to mind were of D&D: [sblock] - A homebrew, "Spider Keep", a mysterious spider-shaped castle, peopled by (you guessed it!) Spiderfolk. Oh! the gasps of horror when my players realized that the bolts of fabric in the warehouse wasn't cotton, but rather THE WEB-WRAPPED CORPSES OF THE MISSING VILLAGERS!!!! (OK, cut us some slack; we were only 10 ;) - the ever-apoplectic Practon Fairmight, "missionary and Determiner Talonate of the Holy Circle of Eru", a true cleric of the Light! - poor, bewildered Eingolor (found as a baby on a boat in a desert), and his unfortunate incident with the mummy, the harpoon, and the deep desert sand. Gods rest his soul.... - Antonio Logratch, debonaire half-orc barbarian/sorc, who was constantly trying to keep in check "the orc within".[/sblock] I find it interesting that D&D experiences (of all things) would be so important among the memories of family, jobs, friends & girlfriends, and just mundane, everyday life. Why is that? Anyway, two questions to the community: (1) What do you associate with your fondest gaming memories? A scent, a place, a CD...? Let's hear it... (2) What are your (nutshell, 25 words or less!) fondest memories?
